Frequently Asked Questions
Target audience
The São Paulo School of Advanced Science on Emerging Pollutants (ESPCA) is aimed at master’s and doctoral students, as well as early-career researchers from both Brazilian and international institutions, with backgrounds in various fields of knowledge related to the theme of Emerging Pollutants.
We encourage applications from students with different academic backgrounds, provided that their studies and research are related to the school’s topics and relevant themes.
How many students will be selected?
A total of 100 students will be selected—50 from Brazil and 50 from other countries. Their travel expenses, daily allowances, meals, and travel insurance (for students from outside Brazil) will be covered by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).
What are the selection criteria?
Participants will be selected based on their curriculum vitae, their most recent academic transcript (issued by their home university), the evaluation of their statement of purpose—in which candidates must describe the reasons for applying to this school and how their participation will benefit their future research—and the assessment of recommendation letters.
The selection process will take into account criteria of gender balance and ethnic/racial diversity.
